What personal service means to this businessman. I hate bad service. I really hate bad service. It is rude and it is stupid. Is it me or is it getting worse each year?
It has become cliche to see someone on hold with the stupid customer service moron recording saying, “your call is important to us, all our representatives are busy assisting other callers, please stay on the line and your call will be answered shortly…” No, my call is NOT important to you or you would have answered it!
Listen, I’m far from perfect. I make mistakes. But I have found that caring about my work, caring about the experience my customers have has been good for business. My customers know that I care about getting what I do right. I give it my best. In a world where service is getting scarcer and scarcer, I figure it gives me one up on my competition. Big businesses generally stink at customer service. Many small businesses stink at it too. It is a function of the attitude that the management insists on rather than the size of the business.
